CAT stands for Common Admission Test.
It is conducted by Tata Consultancy Services.
CAT exams are affiliated with Indian Institutes of Management which uses the scores of the examination for their business schools.
Many esteemed Universities and institutions like Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) use the CAT scores to enroll students in their business programs.
CAT is a computer-based test that contains both subjective and objectives questions. It is a 180-minute test having 3 sub-sections.
These are:
(a) Quantitative Ability
(b) Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
(c) Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
CAT exams have a total of 100 questions which are divided as follows:
(a) Quantitative Ability - 34 questions
(b) VARC - 34 questions
(c) DILR - 32 questions
The marking scheme for objective questions are as follows:
positive 3 marks for a correct answer and negative 1 mark for wrong answers. No marks deducted for any question unanswered.
The marking scheme for subjective questions are as follow:
positive 3 marks for correct answers and no negative marking.
