Know the Insurance Institute of India Exam Details, Exam Pattern and Eligibility



Insurance Institute of India (III) conducts this exam every year, III established in 1955 for promoting the importance and educating people about it with proper training and guidance. It is the only qualified insurance institute with 91 associated institute – The Life Insurance Corporation of India, The General Life Insurance Corporation of India to name a few are some of the associated institutes’ spread across the country. The institute directs examination at 3 levels: Licentiate, Associateship, and Fellowship. In order to become an Insurance Agent one needs to pass IRDA IC38 i.e. Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority which is an independent body for endorsing and regulating of insurance. Eligibility for IC38 is according to Regulation 4 of IRDA 2000, obliges for a 12th Pass as the minimum educational qualification for urban area inhabitants while 10th pass as the minimum educational qualification for rural area inhabitants. The minimum age limit is 18 years. You cannot directly appear for IC38, you need to be an insurer first at which you have to attend 50 hours training by IRDA to be called a Life, General or Health Insurance Agent, while for first timers, and it is 75 hours of training.

The admit card for IC38 2020 is available after slot booking. The candidates can download their Admit card from online, all they need is to input your Registration Number, and Password and then hit SUBMIT Button then you will be able to download it from online.

The admit card will contain the details regarding your exams like:

  • Roll Number

  • Photograph
  • Signature
  • Name & Address of Examination Centre allotted to the candidate

The candidate needs to bring one of the following documents as their identity proof in the examination center:

  • IRDA Agent Call Letter 2020 Hard Copy
  • Original ID proof like Driving License, Aadhar Card, PAN Card, etc.

Eligibility:

Regulation 4 of the IRDA (licensing of Insurance Agents) Regulations, 2000 requires a Minimum qualification of a pass in 12th standard in case of urban areas and 10th Standard in case of rural areas if the population is less than 5000.

Syllabus of IC38 Exam:
  1. Common Chapters: It involves concepts like Introduction to Insurance, Customer Service, Grievance Redressal Mechanism, Regulatory aspects of Corporate Agency, Legal Principle of an Insurance Contract.
  2. Life Insurance: It involves concepts like What Life Insurance involves, Financial Planning, Life Insurance Products I & II, Applications of Life Insurance, Underwriting, Applications of Life Insurance, Documentation: Proposal Stage, Policy Condition I & II, Pricing & Valuation in Life Insurance and Payments under a Life Insurance Policy.
  3. Health Insurance: It involves concepts like Introduction to Health Insurance, Insurance Documentation, and Health Insurance: Claims, Products, and Underwriting.
  4. General Insurance: It involves concepts like Principles of Insurance, Documentation, Theory, and Practice of Premium Rating, Personal and Retail Insurance, Commercial Insurance and Claims Procedure.
