If you are thinking of settling down in the United Kingdom then you’ll have to take “Life in the UK Test” to prove your eligibility to be a British citizen. The Citizenship Test is designed to evaluate if a candidate has the sufficient knowledge of British culture, values, history, traditions, everyday life and proficiency of the English language. This test has been criticized for a number of occasions for being nothing more than a pub quiz and for not being as purposeful as it should be along with having factual errors. But there is no escaping it as the test is a legal requirement under the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 of UK. The Life in the UK Test consists of 24 questions that are to be answered in the duration of 45 minutes, that is one can take up to two minutes for attempting each question. Candidates who fall under the age bracket of 18 years to 64 years have to take this test. Those who secure minimum 75% marks are considered to have passed the test and those who secure less than 75% marks are failed. But they can take the test again after a week. This test is exempt for people who are below 18 years of age or older than 65 years. The Life in the UK Test is conducted in online fashion with multiple choice-based questions. Exact scores of the test are never disclosed to the passing candidates. Candidates who pass the test with 75% marks or above are given a Pass Notification Letter that is to be signed by the candidate. There is no limit to the number of attempts to take the test, that is, one can keep taking the test until he/she finally passes the test.
