Jawahar Lal Nehru University Combined Entrance Exam of Biotechnology (JNUCEEB) : Exam Pattern
JNU conducts the national-level combined entrance examination for admission in various Biotechnology postgraduate courses, it is held by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The admission will be based on the rank obtained by candidates in JNUCEEB for these courses:
• MTech Biotechnology
• MSc Biotechnology
• MSc (Agri) Biotechnology and MVSc
Multiple-Choice Questions will be asked in the examination. For every course, the exam pattern, number of questions, categorization of the exam varies. The exam will possess two parts: Part A and Part B.
Part A will have 60 questions and Part B will have 100 questions from which the candidate has to attempt 60 questions.
The online exam will be conducted in English Medium at the National-Level in 123 cities across India.
► For MSc Biotechnology:
• The duration of the exam is 3 hours where the exam will have two parts:
Part A:
1. There will be 60 Multiple-choice questions (MCQs) of the senior secondary level. The questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.
2. 1 mark will be granted for the correct answer and 0.5 marks will be subtracted for every incorrect answer.
3. Part A exam will be for 60 marks.
Part B:
1. There will be 100 Multiple-Choice questions (MCQs) of graduation level from which 60 questions are required to be attempted.
2. The questions will be asked from Physics, Mathematics, Biology (Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, and Molecular Biology)
Chemistry.
3. 3 marks will be granted for the correct answers and 1 mark will be subtracted for every wrong answer.
4. Part B exam will be for 180 marks.
► For MTech Biotechnology:
• The duration of the exam will be 3 hours and the exam will have two streams:
Technology Stream:
Part A: Basic Engineering & Technology – at the undergraduate level
Part B: Physics/ Chemistry/ Maths – at an undergraduate level
Part C: Fundamental Life Sciences and Informatics – at 10+2 level
Life Science Stream:
Part A: Life Sciences (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Immunology) – at postgraduate level
Part B: Maths, Computer & Information Sciences – at 10 + 2 level
Part C: Chemistry/ Physics – at an undergraduate level
• The candidates will be awarded 1 mark for every correct answer and there is no provision of negative marking.
