NIFT CAT Exam (B.Design)


Type:  Paper-based test (Offline Mode)
Duration: The duration of the Creative Ability Test (CAT) for NIFT Exam (B.Design) will be of 180 minutes.
No. of Questions: 3 Drawing Type Questions.
Syllabus Covered: NIFT conducts CAT of 100 marks for admissions to B. Design programme to judge

- Intuitive Ability

- Power of observation in Concept Development

- Design Ability

And the creative and innovative use of color and illustration skills among the candidates.

NIFT GAT Exam (B.Design)


Type:  Paper-based test(Offline Mode)
Duration: The duration of the General Ability Test (GAT) for B.Design will be of 120 minutes.
No. of Questions: 100 Objective type questions.
Syllabus Covered: Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
Marking Scheme: 1 mark will be awarded for every correct answer and 0 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

NIFT GAT Exam (B.F.Tech)


Type:  Paper-based test (Offline Mode)
Duration: The duration of the GAT for B.F.Tech will be of 180 minutes.
No. of Questions: 150 Objective type questions.
Syllabus Covered: Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, and English Comprehension, Analytical Ability and Logical Ability, General Knowledge, Current Affairs and case study.
Marking Scheme: 1 mark will be awarded for every correct answer and 0 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Understanding the competition in NIFT Exam


NIFT Exam is one of the most important exam on the list of every fashion-oriented student who wish to pursue a career in Fashion Technology. With only 2370 seats offered by 16 NIFT campuses across India applicants face tough competition. The Entrance Exam directly offers admission to either B.Design or B.F.Tech.The Organisation conducts the examination for admission to the course having a different entrance exam CAT & GAT for B.Design and GAT for B.F.Tech on the same day. In total 3 different exams are held on the same day with two of the exams being the eligibility criteria for B.Design and the third being the base for admission in B.F.Tech.

  • The Age limit to appear for the exam is the maximum of 23 years and 5years relaxation for SC/ST/PHP category applicants. 

Qualification Required to be eligible for appearing in NIFT Exam are as follows -

  • Candidates should have passed in 10+2 qualifying examination from a recognized state or national board of education

  • Candidates passed from Public University/ School/ Board examination in India or Foreign countries must be recognized under the Association of Indian Universities as per 10+2 pattern of education.

  • Candidates must have studied a minimum of five main subjects under the National Open School Examination.

  • Candidates holding diploma under 10+3 or 10+4 pattern as recognized by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) or State Board of Technical Education.

  • Candidates holding Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB) level General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka).
