Punjab University’s Common Entrance Test is one the most crucial exams held every year for the admittance of eligible young minds at PU campus into undergraduate degree programmes for B.Sc. (Hons.) with Choice Based Credit System and for B. Pharmacy. PU CET UG online registration is ongoing and the exam prospectus, containing details such as entrance test pattern, eligibility, steps in the registration process, application fee, and reservation criteria, is available at the official web portal of Punjab University.



The entrance test will be conducted on May 16, 2020; the candidates will be quizzed on subjects: PCM and Biology. PU CET UG: Eligibility Criteria  

  • B. Pharma: 50% Marks in 10+2 examination conducted by the respective state/central government authorities recognized as equivalent to 10+2 examination by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with English, Physics, Chemistry and one of the following subject: Biology/ Biotechnology / Mathematics

  • B. Sc (H) Botany, Zoology: Should have passed 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English

  • B. Sc (H) Anthropology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics: Should have passed 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks with English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Biology

  • B. Sc (H) Biochemistry, Microbiology: Should have passed 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks with English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology

  • B. Sc (H) Biotechnology, Biophysics: Should have passed 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks with English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Biology

  • B. Sc (H) Mathematics: Should have passed 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks with Mathematics as one of the subjects

MERIT CRITERIA: Weightages for admission to B.Sc. (Hons) and B. Pharm:

  • Qualifying Examination (+2): 25%

  • PU – CET (U.G.) Entrance Test: 75%

PU CET UG Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The Test will be conducted in the subjects of (i) Physics, (ii) Chemistry (iii) Biology (iv) Mathematics.

Marking scheme:

  • Paper-I Mathematics: 60 questions carrying 2 marks each, total MCQs: 120, Time given: 70 minutes

  • Paper-II Chemistry: 60 questions carrying 2 marks each, total MCQs: 120, Time given: 70 minutes

  • Paper-III Physics: 60 questions carrying 2 marks each, total MCQs: 120, Time is given: 70 minutes

  • Paper-IV Biology: 60 questions carrying 2 marks each, total MCQs: 120, Time is given: 70 minutes

  • For every wrong answer, 25% marks allotted to the question will be deducted.

  • The medium of examination will be ENGLISH only.

  • Entrance Test Syllabus will cover CBSE Syllabus (10+1 & 10+2) for the past two-year sessions

 

 

Study tips for PU CET UG Entrance Test

  • Increase Speed: Manage your time properly; give an appropriate amount of time to each section. Try to improve your time by practicing as many online tests as possible.
