Let us first understand the term velocity, according to techtarget.com, "Velocity is a vector expression of the displacement that an object or particle undergoes with respect to time. The standard unit of velocity magnitude (also known as speed ) is the meter per second (m/s)"

Ahgg! so much technical, let me break the definition in parts.

- Velocity is something, "The distance traveled by a body/mass in a unit time in a particular direction is called velocity."

- In another way velocity can also be defined as The rate of change of displacement is called speed.

Velocity is always displacement/time. Its unit is m/s.

Example: Suppose you're traveling on your bicycle the rate at which the bicycle is moving is know as its speed. Velocity is then displacement (change of position) over time (speed+ direction)
