  • Exam Pattern
    GATE Examination is of 65 questions for 100 marks in total. The duration is of 3 hours. The questions are in the MCQ and Numerical Answer Type Questions. It is a Computer Based Test (CBT). The sections divided in the papers are:
    General Aptitude- There will be 10 questions. 5 questions for 1 mark each: 5 questions for 2 marks each. In total, this test consists of 15 marks.
    Technical Section- There will be 25 questions. Each question for 1 mark, where the section is of 25 marks in total.
    Electrical Engineering- There will be 30 questions. Each question for 2 marks, where the section is of 60 marks in total.
    1 mark MCQs – 1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
    2 mark MCQs – 2/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong response.
    Zero marks will be awarded for unattempted questions
    No negative marking will be done for Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions

    Stage 2-Engineering Discipline specific paper-1 of 300 marks for 3hrs
                  Engineering Discipline specific paper-2 of 300 marks for 3hrs
    Stage 3- Personality Test for 200 Marks.
    Total of 1300 Marks.

  • pattern for gate exam:3hours exam, 65 questions,total marks =100M, type of questions- both MCQ and NATNEGATIVE MARKING : for 1/3 rd of total marks will be deducted for MCQs, for NAT no negative markingpaper constitutes general aptitude section ( (5x2M=10M) +(5x1M=5M))= 15MMathematics-10-15MRemaining 70% of the paper constitues of subject specialisation.For E&T ESE examination the pattern is :1) paper -i) consists of general studies with 10 topics : current affairs refer to Vajiram ravi current affairs pdfs and study only what is required for ESE ethics - you can buy any institute material or follow ethics book by R S Nagarajan for General Aptitude(GA) : what ever you prepare for GATE is sufficient mathematics: same as GA Project Management:you can download project management book of knowledge pdf from internet ICT: can learn from internet Energy and environment:you should learn from current affairs and standard books Standards and Quality Management: quality management by Greame knowles principles of design drawing and safety: engineering drawing textbook by K venkata reddy material science : textbook by Callister

  • If you really want a good rank and score then go for the major subjects as follows: 1) APPTITUTE -15 marks 2)EDC -6-10 marks 3) COMMUNICATION- 10-14 marks including ANALOG AND DIGITAL 4)MATHEMATICS -12-15 marks 5)Signal and system +Network theory -- 10-12 marks 6) digital electronics-- 4-7 marks 7)other including MICROCONTROLLER --3-5 marks This year they are planning to include statistics as well. Apptitude and math for 30 marks and core technical subjects for 70 marks =100 marks 35 questions (2 mark each)+30 questions(1 mark each)=65 questions for 100 marks. hope it will clear.
