SYLLABUS:-
The GRE general test is a computer based exam that consists of 6 sections:-
· Analytical writing section-
2 Verbal section- It is a computer based verbal section that accesses reading comprehension, critical reasoning, & vocabulary usages. This verbal test is score on the rate of 130-170. It consists of 20 questions that has to be completed in 30 minutes. Each verbal section consists of 6 text completion, 4 sentence equivalence, & 10 critical reading questions. The Verbal Reasoning section measures a candidate's ability to:
a. Analyse and draw conclusions, understand and add value to incomplete data; identify the persception of the author;
b. Indentify vital points and differentiate between relevant and irrelevant points;
c. Understand and summarise the structure of a text;
d. Understand the meanings of words, sentences and entire texts;
e. Understand relationships among words and among concepts.
· 2 quantitative reasoning sections- It comprises of basic high school mathematics knowledge and reasoning skills. It is rated on the scale of 130-170.It also consists of 20 questions that needs to be completed in 35 minutes. It comprises of 8 quantitative comparisons, 9 problem solving items and 3 data interpretation questions. The Quantitative Reasoning section measures a candidate's ability to:
a. Understand and analyze quantitative information
b. Interpret quantitative information correctly
c. Solve problems using mathematical models
d. Apply basic mathematical skills and concepts of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and data interpretation.
· An experimental section – It can be either verbal or quantitative, contains new questions ETS is considering for future use.
