JNUCEEB Entrance Exam Pattern, Insights, Details, and Previous Year Papers

JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) conducts the Combined Entrance Examination for Biotechnology or the JNUCEEB every year for shortlisting candidates for its Biotechnology courses; M. Sc. Agri Biotechnology, M. Sc. Biotechnology, and M. Tech. Biotechnology. CEEB has been conducted by JNU in the month of May. JNU CEEB 2020 notification has been released on the JNU official website. There are three separate prospectuses for the three Biotechnology Courses offered by the university. Each prospectus has separate eligibility criteria for the courses in question, therefore candidates are advised to go through the prospectus thoroughly before applying or before choosing which course to apply for. Information regarding the general rules of the exam, exam patterns and syllabus are given in detail in each prospectus, ergo the exam pattern will vary for the three Biotechnology courses. To Prepare well, candidates are advised to attempt JNUCEE Exam previous year question papers.

JNUCEEB Admission Process

After the declaration of the results and keeping the scores achieved in the exam by the candidates as the base, candidate shortlisting will be done for the Biotechnology courses. Then the JNU authorities will prepare a merit list, which will be drawn after accessing the performances of candidates and the availability of seats for admissions. The candidates will be informed of the merit list so prepared in association with all the participating varsities in due time. The shortlisted candidates will be given the chance to join their preferred college/university after making the initial security deposit.

 JNU Initial Security Deposit

  • General & OBC Candidates: Rs 5,000

  • SC, ST, PWD Candidates: Rs 2,500

This security deposit is to be paid by the means of a DD. Once the allotment of seats is done, respective candidates will be informed about the status of their admissions. Candidates who have been allotted seats for admission will then be informed about the admission process in detail by the participating universities they applied for. All these updates will be notified on the JNU official website.

JNUCEEB is now GAT-B Graduate Aptitude Test of Biotechnology:

Graduate Aptitude Test of Biotechnology (GAT-B) replaced Jawahar Lal Nehru University Combined Entrance Exam of Biotechnology (JNUCEEB) which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to offer admission in DBT (Department of Biotechnology)  supported Postgraduate Biotechnology programs.

Tips for preparation JNU CEEB

For self-study you need motivation and self-discipline, to continue with the routine. This method will definitely help you save lots of time and money. However, if you feel you learn best in a classroom environment, then attending coaching classes is not a bad deal. Remember that you can choose to study on your own or through professional help, there is no right or wrong way.

  • You need speed to finish JNU CEEB within the prescribed time limit. Go through the topics in the JNU Syllabus and start with the ones that you are good at. Practice Physics/chemistry and mathematics problems by memorizing formulas.

  • After each study session keeps 1 hour for revision of topics learned/practiced.

  • Make mathematics your strong suit, practice questions to solve them within time to increase efficiency. The trick here is to mug up math formulas by heart, so they come in handy while solving a problem.

  • Become smart by attempting questions that you are sure of first, then come to the questions you’re in doubt. But don’t attempt them anyway, remember negative marking is a factor here. Therefore, attempt only the questions that you are sure of.

  • Manage your time properly; give an appropriate amount of time to each section. Try to improve your time by practicing as many online tests as possible.
