Allahabad University was established in 1887 and is the fourth oldest university of India after Calcutta, Bombay & Madras University. Often referred to as “Oxford of the East” and it is also the Central University. It has 12 colleges constituted in it and it has been affiliated with UGC. It was founded with the motive to provide education to the people of Allahabad by providing admissions to Graduate and Under Graduate courses. Faculty of Law was created at Allahabad University in 1972 with 49 Students. Allahabad University offers 5 courses which include LLB, BA. LLB, LLM, and D. Phil. & LLD. The Education Qualification of BA LLB which is a Five Year Law Admission Test (LFAT)is that a candidate must have at least 45% Marks in aggregate in 12th Class from a recognized Board. The minimum age is 17 years while the upper age is 22 years.

Education Qualification:
The Minimum Qualification is 45% Marks for General in 12th Class from a recognized Board with the courses offered by Bar Council of India. 42% in OBC and 40% in ST/SC as the qualifying marks.
Age Limit:
The minimum age is 17 years while the upper age is 22 years.

Paper Description:
1. Language Comprehension 2. General Awareness 3. Reasoning 4. Legal Aptitude.

LFAT Eligibility Criteria:

  • The candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent course from the recognised university or Senior Secondary Board. 

  • General category candidates must secure 45% marks 

  • OBC candidates need at least 42% of marks and the candidates belonging to SC/ST category need to secure 40% marks.

  • There is no age limit for the candidates to appear in LFAT as declared by the Bar Council of India.

 


Syllabus: LFAT 

There are total 3 subjects which will have 100 Objective Questions carrying 2 marks each with negative marking 1/3rd for Paper I & II while 50 Objective Questions carrying 2 marks each with the negative marking of 2/3rd with the time limit of 150 Minutes:

Language Comprehension: English language will carry 80 marks & Hindi Language will carry 20 marks and it will cover topics like Grammar, Reading Knowledge, Antonym – Synonym, Analogies, etc.

General Awareness & Current Affairs: It will cover topics like Polity, Sports, Awards, Books, Geography, Indian History, United Nations, What’s Happening in the Country & World and more.

Reasoning, Mental & Legal Aptitude: It will cover topics like Number Series, Blood Relations, Syllogisms, Circular Arrangements, etc., & Constitution, Contract Laws, Torts, Family Law, Contract Act, Companies Act and more.

Note: The Counselling Dates of Allahabad University LFAT is expected to start from the end of May and will go on till June 2020 with admission available to around 120 Undergraduate LAW students.

Tips for LFAT 

  • Increase Speed: Manage your time properly; give an appropriate amount of time to each section. Try to improve your time by practicing as many online tests as possible.
