How different is CSIR NET Exam from UGC NET Exam?

Hello,br /UGC NET and CSIR NET exams have differences in various terms. From Dec 2019, CSIR NET exam will be also conducted by NTA.br /Primarily these both exams are having differences in two areas i.e. Subjects and Exam Pattern.br /UGC NET Exam is conducted for almost all subjects of every stream while CSIR NET exam is organized only for the science stream subjects. This is the major difference between both exams.br /CSIR NET Exam has only one paper of 3 hours while UGC NET has two papers with the time duration of 3 hours. Each paper of UGC NET has its own specific duration.br /The NTA UGC NET qualified candidates to get a chance to work with NET Coordinating Institutes whereas CSIR NET qualified candidates have to work with the CSIR Research Laboratories.

The purpose of both CSIR NET & UGC NET Exam is to determine the eligibility for college/university level lectureship and for the award of JRF to Indians. br /br /However, there are a few differences to keep in mind-br /br /emstronguConducting Body/u/strong/embr /br /CSIR NET Exam is conducted by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)br /br /UGC NET Exam is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). Marking scheme varies depending upon the choice of subject. There is a negative marking of 25% marks for every wrong answer. The duration of the exam is 3 hours and full marks is 200. It is conducted offline. br /br /UGC NET consists of 2 papers- General Paper 1 which is compulsory for all candidates and a subject specific Paper 2. All questions are compulsory and there is no negative marking anywhere. Paper 1 is of 100 marks and Paper 2 is of 200 marks. The total time given to solve both papers is 3 hours.
