    The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. GATE is conducted jointly by the IISc and seven IITs.
    The following students are eligible to take GATE:[6]
    Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering / Technology / Architecture (4 years after 10+2/ Post-B.Sc./ Post-Diploma) and those who are in the final year of such programs.
    Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programs.
    Candidates in the second or higher year of Four-year integrated master's degree programs (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering / Technology.
    Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year integrated master's degree programs or Dual Degree programs in Engineering / Technology.
    Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by iE(i), AMICE(i) by the institute of Civil Engineers (India)-iCE(i)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech

  • GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an online exam that examines mainly the overall understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering & science. It is a national level examination. 
    Eligibility
    Candidate must hold 75% in 10th and 12th grade.
    Candidate must be from Science stream.
    Exam Pattern
    GATE Computer Science examination is of 10 sections. It consists of 65 questions for the duration of 3 hours. The questions are objective type but with 1/3rd negative marking.

    GATE eligibility criteria (as of 2018) -
    1) If you are a Indian National or belong to Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates you are eligible apply.
    2) No age limit for candidates to appear in GATE.
    3) You should complete your final year of the Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Postgraduate degree in any relevant science subject to apply in GATE.
    4) If you appearing in the final year you are also eligible to apply.
    5) There is no minimum pass percentage of marks required of the qualifying exam/equivalent to apply for GATE.

    There are two different type of Question in GATE examination they are:
    Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
    (NAQ) Numerical Answer Questions
    The multiple-choice questions (MCQs) there would be negative marking for the wrong answer. For numerical answer type questions, there is NO negative marking. Multiple choice questions for one mark, It will be deducted 1/3 mark for a wrong answer. Multiple choice questions for two mark will be deducted 2/3 mark for a wrong answer. And  In the examination hall, you can only enter with the admit card, identification card, and a pen. A simple wrist watch without any calculation device is allowable.

    The application fee for GATE
    All candidates want to apply online application:

    For GEN and OBC candidates: – Rs 150
    For women candidates: – Rs 750
    For SC/ST/PD candidates: – Rs 750
    GATE International candidates: – Us dollars 50
    For International candidates, there is no need to attach PWD (person with a disability) certificate, and category (SC/ST) is NOT APPLICABLE. The examination fee Is uniform for all (US Dollars 50). A candidate can appear in any one GATE paper ONLY.
