1)to reduce insulation plm in generator..bcz designing of rotor -insulation is costly 2) to reduce cost 3)using AC ..we usually step up or step down vtg using transformer

insulation are only available for 11kv,22kv,33kv in the india so that india is generally generated 11kv,22kv,33kv

As we increase the voltage insulation problem arises. Thats why its limited to 11kv. But in some places it is as high as 33kv.
