From which subject one should start preparing for GATE and for how much time a student should study on daily basis to get a good rank < 100 ?

  • You can start with any subject but I will say start with the subject you are most good at. You will gain confidence from that. There are some imporatant subjects which you must cover so cover those . There are some aptitude questions also so dont be overconfident give time to aptitude questions also.On a daily basis give atleast 4 hours to your studies seriously.

  • Start with the subject you are most confident at. Keep daily goals and tasks for each day and be sure to finish them orderly. Organize the tasks in such a way that you remain active throughout. If sticking to the same subject for long gets boring or tiring, switch. Preparation time for GATE depends on many factors, such as individual's aptitude, attitude, fundamentals, concentration level, etc Generally, rigorous preparation for four to six months is considered good, but it may vary from student to student Candidate should refer to the syllabus and analyse the exam pattern using previous years' papers and start preparing accordingly It is important to know what to study, but it is more important to know what not to study A clear understanding of the underlying concepts is a must since the questions asked in GATE exam will test the level and depth of understanding of concepts.

  • GATE preparation usually requires a minimum of 7–8 months of dedicated preparation. If you start from May then it will be sufficient enough to crack it. If you start early then you get more time for revision and solving the variety of questions.

    Total month = 7

    Total Days = 210

    If you read 10 hours a day then you can achieve a rank below 1000
    It requires around 800 to 900 hours to complete 10 subjects.( Theory, Concept and 200 MCQ s of each)

    So on average 70 -80 hour is necessary for each subject.

    Since I am from ECE there are 10 subjects almost.

    In every revision, you have to concentrate more on hard topics which are hard to remember and those which are frequently asked in the exam.

    Easy questions can be solved by every student but hard questions can be solved by only a few peoples.

    Manage your 24 hours properly.

  • coming to the point of preparing time-table , the time alloted to the study will be based on your capacity. but how much time you study , study with a enthuiasm to crack the GATE. you should mainly concentrate on the IT background quesitons to get rank but also should be cared about the reasoning and aptitude too.

  • First of all have a look at the syllabus.
    Then be comfortable and make your mind focused. Because without peace less mind you cannot concentrate.
    Then start studying the subject you like the most and you are confident in it try its all questions related to that subject. Do not indulge in it for your whole preparation time.
    Then move to other subjects. You can shuffle subjects as per your mood and relaxation. 
    All matters is you must have the concepts clear so that you are not stuck while attempting paper.

  • Before starting preparation, one must analyze his/her potential and strengths. It will be a good idea to start with the subject in which you are most confident. The subject can be completed easily and in a very less time. Then, you may select next one in similar manner. Revision must be kept on for all previously studied subjects. Now the time of study depends on your IQ level and potential. Instead of planning a time duration for study, you make a strategy and plan to complete some particular task on daily basis. Getting a rank less than 100 is always tough as there is a huge competition in GATE. So, study duration must be as much as you can manage, otherwise you will be left behind the other competitors.
