IBPS PO Eligibility: Nationality, Educational Qualification, Age Limit

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts IBPS PO Examination once in a year to recruit right candidates for Probationary Officer Post. So IBPS is responsible to set the eligibility criteria for this exam. IBPS releases the information of required eligibility through its official site when the notification of the exam is announced to fill the application form.

The aspirants should read all the conditions of eligibility carefully before applying for the exam to avoid errors in the application form fillling. The main factor of change in eligibility for the IBPS PO Exam is age limit because the period in which the candidates' date of birth should be lies is changed by the IBPS every year.

The required percentage in graduation and age limit varies according to the category of the candidates that makes it more important to understand the eligibility criteria.

The eligibility criteria of the IBPS PO Exam depends on the following 3 Factors

1. Nationality
2. Educational Qualification
3. Age Limit

1. Nationality for IBPS PO
 
The candidate should be a citizen of India or a person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Vietnam etc for the the intention of permanent settling in India. OR

The candidate should be a subject of Nepal or Bhutan. OR

Tibetan refugee came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.

The candidates who are not an Indian Citizen have to produce the certificate of eligibility during the Interview.

2. Educational Qualification for IBPS PO

The IBPS specifies that the candidate should have passed the bachelor's degree from a recognised university. The candidate should complete graduation degree before 28 August 2020. The institute does not set any benchmark of percentage to be eligible for the exam. The banks set the benchmark of minimum percentage to apply for the vacancies of relevant banks.

The qualification equivalent to the bachelor's degree such as AIME, departmental courses from the government etc also acceptable to apply for the exam but the candidates have to provide the proof that their qualification is equivalent to a graduation degree by the govt of India.

The candidates should specify the percentage marks of their gradution degree on filling the application form. The candidates who have marks in CGPA should also convert in percentage. Percentage should be clearly specify to the nearest two decimals.

3. Age Limit for IBPS PO

The age limit for the IBPS PO Exam is given by the following
(a) Minimum age limit: 20 Years
(b) Maximum age limit: 30 Years
The candidate's age should be lies between 20 and 30 years on 1 August 2020.

The same above age criteria is applicable for the General Category and other category can avail the age relaxation according to the below points.

(1) OBC Category (Non Creamy Layer): 3 Years
(2) SC/ ST Candidates: 5 Years
(3) Ex Servicemen/ Person Domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir between 1980-89/ 1984 Victims: 5 Years
(4) Persons with Disabilities
(a) Partial or Full Blindness: 10 Years
(b) Partial or Total Loss of Hearing: 10 Years
(c) Locomotor Disabilities: 10 Years
(d) Intellectual or Learning Disabilities, Autism and Mental Illness: 10 Years
(e) Multiple Concurrent Disabilities: 10 Years

Physically disabled ST Candidates can get 15 Years age relaxation. All the candidates who are in exemption category are required to produce the certificates during the interview to be eligible for the IBPS PO.
EWS/ PwD Category's Candidates can get the benefit of reservation.
