Reason: It is a series following -1 ,+1 pattern
Approching this question from the second  last no of the series will make it easier to solve
1.37*2= 74+1= 75
2.19*2=38-1=37
So the next no of the series should be (x)*2+1=19 which gives x=9
and going back to the first no 5*2-1=9 which justifies the required no. 
Hence the answer is 9.
