Somebody please tell what is buoyant force, in applied mechanics ?
The buoyant force is simply that upward force which is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object or the pressure exerted on the object by the fluid. Mathematically, it is the product of the density of liquid, gravitational acceleration and mass of liquid. It depends on the mass and weight of the object whereas it is independent of the density of the object. It is due to the buoyant force that ships float. It has also its applications in submarines, balloons and divers.
Here as the depth increases, the pressure will increase and the pressure on the bottom surface is always larger than the force on the top.
