CDS
· Combined Defence Services is an exam conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission i.e. a Central’s recruiting and examination agency which employs candidates for All India Services which includes IAS, IRS, IDAS, IFS, IPS, SCRA, NDA, IAAS, CDS, etc.
· The examination is held mainly for the recruitment into the Air Force, Navy, and Indian Army and Officers Training Academy.
· The exam is conducted twice a year in the month of February and November.
ELIGIBILITY
· The Minimum Qualification required is 10+2 from a recognized University with Physics and Mathematics or Degree in Engineering for Navy & Air force but for Army & Officers Training Academy one must have a degree from a recognized college.
· AGE LIMIT for attempting the exam is 19 to 25 years.
· For Indian Military Academy/Officers’ Training Academy: Degree from a recognized university or equivalent is required
For Indian Naval Academy: Degree in Engineering from a recognizedUniversity/Institution is required.
For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or Bachelor of Engineering is required.
EXAM PATTERN
The CDS exam is divided into two categories:
CATEGORY 1 is for FOR MILITARY, NAVY & AIR FORCE
TOTAL TIME allotted is 6 hours
TOTAL MARKS:300
CORRECT ANSWER:+1
INCORRECT ANSWER:-0.33
SUB PARTS:
English (100marks)(2hours)
General Knowledge (100marks)(2hours)
Elementary Maths (100marks)(2hours)
CATEGORY 2 is for FOR OFFICER'S TRAINING ACADEMY
TOTAL TIME:4 hours
TOTAL MARKS:200

TIPS AND TRICKS
1) firstly, Develop a habit of reading newspapers, magazines, novels, etc to improve your vocabulary.
2)You must Go thrugh the syllabus and exam pattern thoroughly.
3)Be in touch with the current affairs and events that are making the news.
4)Make sure the political and historical scenario of India is on your tips.
5)Study regularly and revise the concepts on a regular basis.
6)Make notes for revision while studying different topics.
7)Be positive and confident
8)Know your strengths and weaknesses and work on them constantly.
