BPSC Syllabus:
BPSC Exam will be conducted in three stages:
1. Prelims Exam
2. Mains Exam
3. Interview
BPSC Prelims Syllabus:
The Prelims exam will be one paper of 150 marks having general studies with the main focus. There is no special skill required for the examination. The detailed topics that will be covered for General Studies subject in BPSC Prelims examination are here:
1. General Science
2. Events of national and international importance
3. History of Bihar and Indian History
4. Geography: The questions can be asked from the Social and economic geography of Bihar and India including Indian agriculture and use of natural resources
5. Indian Polity and Economy: The questions can be asked from the Indian Political System, Panchayati Raj, Community Development, Planning in India and Bihar
6. Changes in the economy of Bihar post-independence
7. Indian National Movement and the Role of Bihar
8. General Mental Ability
BPSC Mains Syllabus:
There will be four papers in BPSC Mains Exam. The exam duration for each exam in BPSC Mains is 3 hours.
The four papers in BPSC Mains are:
1. General Hindi – Qualifying Paper; Hindi is might the qualifying paper where minimum qualifying criteria are 30 marks out of 100.
2. General Studies 1: 300 marks
3. General Studies 2: 300 marks
4. Optional Subject: 300 marks

General Studies 1: Indian Culture, Modern History of India, Contemporary events of national and international importance, Statistical Analysis, diagrams and graphs, Important personalities, Role of Bihar in the Indian National Movement - Santhal uprising, 1857 war of independence, Champaran Satyagraha, Quit India Movement 1942, Mauryan and Pal Art, Patna Kalam Paintings
General Studies 2: Indian (and Bihar) Polity, Indian (and Bihar) Economy, Indian (and Bihar) Geography
Role and impact of Science and Technology in the development of India (and Bihar)
There are approximately about 34 subjects that are presented before the shortlisted candidate to opt from for the 4th exam of BPSC Mains Exam.
