PPSC Exam Pattern, Insights and Details



Punjab Public Service Commission is responsible for recruiting and handling civil and management services in Punjab was founded on 1st May 1937 in Lahore (now Pakistan). On 1st November 1996, it was again founded as in that year Himachal Pradesh and Haryana got divided. Its sole motive is creating and fostering as Public Service Commission is free, non- biased, honest, Operational and capable enough to meet and fulfil the requirements of common people from the government side. The duty of PPSC are: The direct recruitment on the behalf of Defence, Government servants and much more, They help in the framing of recruitment rules, Advice Government on promotions and transfers from one service to another. The eligibility for applying for PPSC is Degree in M.SC (Agriculture) with soil science and Conservation Agriculture as the main subject or a degree in B.TECH Agricultural Engineering or first division experience in an organisation dealing with Soil conservation or Water Management or Natural resource management or Punjabi of Matric or equivalent degree. There is a total of 82 vacancies for PPSC with salary ranging between 10300 and 34000. The selection procedure consists of three rounds- Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam and Interview. The preliminary exam consists of two paper- Paper I is of General Studies and Paper II is of Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), whereas, Mains consists of seven papers. Candidates need to clear the preliminary exam in order to go further in Mains and Interview.

Exam Pattern:

It is an online exam which consists of 2 papers: General Studies and Civil services Aptitude Test (CSAT). There will be a total of 180 questions of 400 marks:

General Studies: It covers topics like Everyday Science, Environmental Studies, Political Theory and International Order, History of India, Indian Economy and Geography, Punjab, Current Events of National and international importance, people, society and culture.

CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test): It covers topics like Reading Comprehension, Interpersonal skills, Communication skills, Logical reasoning, Analytical and Mental Ability, basic Number Skills and Data Analysis, Numbers, percentages, charts, tables, graphics presentations, spreadsheets, Magnitudes, antonym – Synonym, Numerical relation appreciation.
