The formula is actually better writtenbr /ΔS=Q/T.br /That is, the strongchange/strong in entropy associated with the flow of heat is inversely proportional to the temperature at which the heat flow occurs. Note that Q is already a change itself: it is not a state variable, but rather something more like ΔW. Physically, this is because adding heat to a hot system doesn't disorder it as much as adding the same heat to a cold system.If T is changing, you would need to integratebr /ΔS=∫dS=∫δQ/Tbr /For an ideal gas at constant volume and particle number, it turns outbr /ΔS∝log(Tfinal / Tinitial).br /Thus doubling the temperature does lead to the exponential of S doubling, as you would expect.
