1 it swells up and behave like fountain 2 it shrinks and its wall collapse 3 it bursts like RBC, when placed in water 4 nothing happen at all

Nothing will happen at all because Xylem is a dead tissue consisting of hard deposits around its layer Read Transport in plants Ncert . there it has been provided

I know that if a plant cell is kept in distilled or pure water endo osmosis occurs but there is no change in size of the cell due to the rigid cell wall I feel the same will go for xylem
